Understanding Web Accessibility

What is Web Accessibility?

Web accessibility ensures that websites and web applications are usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. It involves making sure that people with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive impairments can navigate and interact with web content effectively.

Section 508

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. This includes websites, applications, and digital documents.

WCAG Guidelines

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) provide a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure web content is accessible. They are organized into three levels: A, AA, and AAA, with AA being the most commonly followed standard.
